What a pity about the Brasil-France match! We really expected "our" team (Brasil) to win! Thanks for introducing us to the excitement of the World Cup competition.
We're all grateful to Carla, Fellipe, Mariana, Emerson, Rosanna, Aboré, Marilda, Paulo, Kelly, and Daise for their contagious excitement and enthusiasm!
Best wishes from Pearl, Dennis, and the students in ENH 291 (Florine, Peggy, Toni, Rebecca, Ruben, Gaby, Lia, Chrstina, Zindy, and Monica).

Carla and Students!
Congrats! Portugal has just won to. We are all very Haaaaaaaaaaaaaappy! :)
Carla:
The World Cup postings were very educational for Pearl's students: like most Americans, they had no idea what a far-reaching, truly international event the World Cup competition is (since there is nothing quite like it in the U.S.)
The students enjoyed sending their congratulations for the win over Ghana and wanted to send good luck wishes for today's match between Brasil and France.
Boa soarte!
Dennis
That's great to know, Dennis! It was a pity that we lost. Everybody was truly sad. But it is part of the game.
We learned a lot from all of you, too!
Brazilian cheers.
Carla
Yes, it was a great pity that Brasil lost. I kept expecting a last-minute goal, but it just didn't happen.
Oh, well, life is like that. What we want and what we believe aren't always what happens.
The important thing is to learn from each experience and then go on confidently to the next one!

You can't win them all!
France deserved to win as they played like a real team.
Now it´s our time, We will see if we can avenge you
Hi, Miguel.
I agree that France played like a team and Brazil didn't. Even so, it was a big disappointment to see "my" team lose! Often what we want and what actually happens are quite different, no?
Avenge or "take revenge on"? (The meanings are almost the opposite.)
Best wishes—
Dennis
