As in all cultures, diversity is a key word. Generalizations are unfair, for they don't translate the essence of a country and its people. There are always facts and details that are forgotten, left out. Besides, the citizens of a country are part of a group, but, at the same time, they are people with their distinctive, unique characteristics. I hope you can start to have a different picture of Brazil with our students' points of view. We will include photos from different places, traditions and people so that you can visualize a Latin American country full of contrasts. To start with, take a look at the picture of the whole group together. We were discussing in class that some of the students would never be considered an "authentic" Brazilian if you have the idea that Brazilian girls are all "mulatas" and that boys have dark hair. However, all of them are proud Brazilians with different styles and totally heterogeneous physical appearance. Diversity is really a wonderful cultural aspect of any society. Don't you think so?

That's what I love about any culture, diversity. Every culture has its peculiarities. In the U.S., we can see different people from so many diverse backgrounds and that's what we should care about and respect. I hope to hear more about each one of you.
